    Continuing the Education

Author: Michael Miyasaki, DDS Date: 06.02.2010

The more I learn the more I need to know. Do you find that too? In the past 2 months, I’ve attended the American Association of Endodontists conference in San Diego and the American Association of Orthodontists meeting in Washington, D.C., and the number of the toys, gadgets and techniques they have on display is truly amazing. It instills a lot of respect with our specialist colleagues to attend one of these meetings.

    Dentistry is a GREAT Profession!

Author: Thomas Walker, DMD Date: 07.07.2010

In the 28 years I have been practicing dentistry, I have seen enormous advances in technology applied to dentistry. From implants to lasers the advances have been mind boggling. Along with this progress has come the confusion on the materials and equipment available from which we have to choose.

    Gray Area

    Author: Keith Haig Date: 06.30.2010

This month’s Journal of the American Dental Association includes an interesting article by Gordon Christensen on the topic of gray market and counterfeit dental products. I’m glad that Dr. Christensen has raised this issue, and I want to address it here as well because it’s an important topic that affects many dentists—many of whom may not know it.

Report on the Greater New York Dental Meeting

Author: Michael Miyasaki, DDS Date: 12.17.2009

Last month I attended, for the first time, the Greater New York Dental Meeting and it was impressive with a great number of dental team members and manufacturers in attendance. Part of this Editor-in-Chief ‘job’ with Dental Product Shopper magazine is attending these meetings which is the part I enjoy so much. It’s always a combination of pleasure and business combined as going to these meetings is a great reason to meet up with friends and to see what’s new in the industry.

They Just Don’t Make Them Like They Used to

Author: Ryan Judd, DMD Date: 06.02.2010

Maybe it’s just me, however, I see more and more dental offices going the way of all medicine.  In an effort to combat the rising costs of office overhead we all experience, many dentists are adopting the multi-doctor large group practice model.

What’s the Right Price for a Product?

    Author: Keith Haig Date: 07.19.2010

The speed at which new products are introduced in the dental industry is dizzying – one every 14 hours the last time I checked – and you’ve probably noticed that some companies introduce many more products than others. At 3M ESPE, our pace is driven by our customers’ input and market dynamics coupled with our research and development process, which is in place to ensure that there is a clear need for new products we introduce, and that they do what we say they’ll do.
